Scallywags is hiring!
Sarah Oliver - 4 April 2016
Would you like to work with animals? Do you have a few spare hours during the week? Due to ever-increasing demand, Scallywags is looking for a part-time carer to help with dog walks and cat/small animal feeds.
About us ...
Scallywags Pet Care was set up in September 2014, offering dog walking, small animal feeding and pet sitting services in Hurst Green, Oxted, Westerham and surrounding areas. The business was founded with the aim of delivering services from the heart. Integrity, openness, trust and respect are the key values of Scallywags and underpin all our services and how we deliver them. We apply these values not only to all our clients, but to all the animals in our care. We firmly believe that successful relationships (human or animal) can only be built, nurtured and sustained when living and breathing these four key values.
Growing from strength to strength ...
Sarah Oliver, owner and manager of Scallywags, has been carrying out all the duties but, in less than 18 months, bookings have reached full capacity, with a dog walk waiting list. To meet this ever-increasing demand, Scallywags is looking for another person to help with dog walks and cat/small animal feeds. This is an all-weather job so you will be walking dogs, come rain or shine. This job isn’t glamorous – mud, paw prints and pet hairs are part of the uniform! – but the interaction and bonds you build with the animals are hugely rewarding.
About you ...
The right person will, naturally, be a passionate animal lover who is active, self-motivated and reliable. They will hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle suitable for transporting dogs safely and securely, with relevant insurance. A DBS check (formerly CRB) will be required, which can be arranged via Scallywags; public liability insurance for dog walkers is also necessary and this will be provided by Scallywags.
About the role ...
The position is offered on a self-employed basis, meaning that you will be responsible for registering with HMRC and paying your income tax, national insurance, any pension contributions you wish to make, as well as your expenses. (Don’t worry if you’re new to HMRC Self-Assessment – we can point you in the right direction!) Rates of pay to be agreed and dependent upon the services provided.
Hours are to be agreed and there is some flexibility to suit the right applicant; it will initially be just a few hours per week around lunchtime on regular bookings, with the potential for more over the holiday season. However, demand for Scallywags’ services is ever-increasing and we expect hours will increase as the business grows.
We would be looking for someone to start as soon as possible, and we may take on more than one person to ensure adequate cover and flexibility of our services.
So does all that sound great?
To find out more and/or to apply, please email Sarah Oliver, Owner & Manager of Scallywags or call us providing details of why you feel you would be suited to working with Scallywags, your experience with pets, the hours you would be available and the geographic areas you could cover.
We welcome applications from all people regardless of age, race, gender, disability, religion/belief or sexual orientation.
